Trains.

Deep down, I've had a strong desire to leave and to go places all my life. Being on the run makes me happy, and taking longer than planned rarely stresses but rather inspires me.

I've actually always dreamed of being on an overbooked flight to jump up and leave the plane and get a later one. (Still waiting.)

Today I took a long train ride through stormy weather, heavy rain fall and some sun light. I changed trains, stood in hallways, pressed my nosetip against the glass and painted ornaments on the foggy windows. I was picked up by a handsome boy in a red Volvo. I'm in Frankfurt and couldn't be happier.

28.

Birthdays usually make me nostalgic and a bit thoughtful. This year's birthday came along as a bliss. Danke, Freunde.

Bruised.

After seeing my midwife yesterday I took a long walk through the Jewish Cemetary in Prenzlauer Berg in the rain, breathing in cold, wet air and jumping over puddles. It was so lovely and peaceful, I forgot everything around me, collecting boy's names from the tombstones (yes, I know I am weird) and searching for snales roused by the weather. When I walked back I got tangled in thoughts and oversaw a barrier on Schönhauser Allee. Before I knew it I lay flat on the street, having hit my thigh, elbow, hand and umbrella. I'm hurt and bruised all over, and stayed a bit winy all day (no worries, mini-me's just fine).

Keys.

Got them back and am finally in my apartment again. Feels like heaven, truly.

Still alive, but homeless.

I did a fair bit of zick-zacking Germany in the past two weeks, photographing, exploring and also relaxing a bit as mini-me is taking away a good portion of my energy these days, kicking and boxing hard and preventing me from sleeping most of the time.

Last night I returned to Berlin after a six hour train ride and realized in front of my door that I had forgotten my keys at the other end of Germany. My roommate and boyfriend are gone, so I'll have to be a clochard for a few days in Berlin until my keys arrive (feel free to offer me a bed for a night if you can)... I'm pissed but grateful I have good friends and family giving me a temporary home in the big, evil city while having to stick to deadlines and getting all my things done here. Happy Monday.

Frankfurt/Main.

I'm pretty much a Berliner (by choice) down my throat and could never imagine living anywhere else in Germany (what a cliché, I know, but it's true). One of the last cities I ever considered to live at or even like is this one: Frankfurt. Ugh.

Fortune damned (or blessed?) my boyfriend to get a job there for this summer just a few days after we were set into knowledge of mini-me's existence in my womb (back then, the tiny existence of a grape). So I'll be damned (or blessed?) to go there a few times in the next months.

This week I took a heart (and a job to do there) and went to Frankfurt by train. It was an uncomfortable (Germans are not the kind very likely to offer a pregnant woman a seat and I was too undecided to make a reservation because I wasn't sure which train I'd catch) but beautiful trainride along areas of Germany I wasn't quite familiar with (still need to do that damn Tour D'Allemagne sometime). Arriving in Frankfurt I was actually impressed by the only real German city skyline and the numerous men in suits (not hot, but very photogenic I say).

During my few days in Frankfurt I fell in love a bit. Not that I'd ever move here or actually really like it, but for a little visit, I'm always in. My boyfriend's roommates pampered me with food and conversation, I got to take a nice, hot bath every morning and really, really loved the city centre for random street photography. Frankfurt, I'll be back.

iPhone Diaries #5.

Had a great week with interesting jobs, two stops at the lake, great food, best company, first freckles, ultrasound baby watching and a few hormone-driven tears. Life is good.

Techno Party.

I went to see my midwife today and got to hear mini-boy's (YES! It's a boy!) heartbeat. Sounded like a real Berlin summer rave par excellence, I'm happy and convinced he's super fine. I got a bit worried yesterday after my doctor's appointment, but the midwife took away all my worries (thank you, thank you).

iPhone Diaries #4.

After a lovely exhibition at Dean Dorle on friday with a late, late night return to Berlin (after one stop at McDonalds and one stop for a power nap) , I had a lazy and cozy weekend, seeing old friends, strolling fleamarkets and observing the world around me.

(While mini-me seems to be floating through my bump, waiting for the right moments to pinch me hard like a tiny evil terrorist half the day... the other half, it kicks and cuddles lovingly.)

Tomorrow: Dean Dorle.

By now I've reached a certain level of routine framing, ordering prints and getting excited, but I still feel a thrill of anticipation for tomorrow's exhibition in my 2nd favourite German city, Hamburg.

I would be honered and happy to welcome you with beer and lemonade at my little vernissage featuring photographs and a growing belly at >>Dean Dorle<< around 7pm, Collonaden 15 near Gänsemarkt.
