Inspiration: It's no biggie.

I found this blog years ago and loved it but just recently rediscovered it and thought I'd share. It's no biggie shows self-drawn animated gifs of every day life scenes, brought to you by Berlin based artist Thoka Maer. Simple and yet so powerful. Check them out.

Inspiration: Birte Kaufmann.

I met Birte in >>New York<< two years ago during a workshop organized by >>Ostkreuz<<. She 's one of the very few students at the school (I haven't met that many to be honest) whose work I truly loved.

Birte is in the middle of her >>final thesis<< right now photographing a stunning project on >>"The Irish Travelers"<<, a community of nomads in Ireland. There aren't many students putting this much emphasis into their school projects and these photos are just amazing, shedding light into a society that hasn't been documented before.

This is a beautiful, a brave, yet an expensive project and Birte needs funding to pay for gas, for food and for flights while she lives in the middle of the people she is photographing and for prints and frames for the exhibition. Take a heart and support her project with a small (or a big) amount of money on >>emphas.is<<. There are only four more days to go and Birte will only be granted if her goal of 3450 Euros is reached. >>Please help!<<

Update: She's made it! Thank you very much!

Inspiration: Klara Harden.

>>Klara<< is a fellow photographer and film maker. I found her sometime last year when googling iceland, one of my top-on-the-list-to-go-countries. What a passionate traveler - I really love this film.

She is currently planning a new project in Madagascar. Please help finance her project via crowdfunding --> >>with love from madagascar<<. Only 4 days to go!

Inspiration: Ioana Moldovan.

I look at hundreds of photos every day looking for inspiration and ideas for new places to go. I find gems everywhere, but oftentimes only a fraction of someone's work really inspires or strikes me. Today I found >>Ioana Moldovan<<.

I think I've rarely ever found a contemporary, young photographer who (in my opinion) just gets everything right on the dot. I'd buy 99% of these photos to wallpaper my apartment with them. 99% of these photos I wish I would have taken. I've never been so inspired before.

These photos make me want to go to Romania more than ever. This week I applied for a photography journey traveling the Romanian region Moldova in April to photograph there. I really, really hope I can go.

Inspiration: We are no Journalists.

Photo: Fabian Sixtus Körner

A >>while ago<< I introduced you to world traveler and post modern journeyman >>Fabian Sixtus Körner<<. Though I never met him in person, I follow his travels and stories and feel a strong empathy for what he is doing and how he is doing it.

Today I looked through his stories again and found a >>blogpost<< he wrote while in Cuba. Though I admire his photos and the portrait- and interview-project he did there, I understand his worries publishing the work, possibly bringing the people involved into terrible trouble.

Throughout my journeys, I have heard plenty of criticism against governments and regimes, talked to people desperate or drunk and listened to their sometimes passionate, sometimes desperate stories. The reason I never published them is that I feel uncomfortable putting something they shared personally with me into public. I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do or if it is paranoid, and I'm wondering if it would be smart or not to do it.

What do you think? And Fabian - are you publishing it, or no? Did the people know what they were doing? And do you think they'll let you travel into Cuba again?

(Listen to the right music: "Gymnopédie No. 1" by Erik Satie)

A few days ago I couldn't sleep at night and zapped through television. I accidently got tangled in a wonderful documentary called "Man on Wire" telling the story of French wire dancer Philippe Petit dancing on a wire between the towers of World Trade Center in New York in 1974 (also known as "Le coup").

So Beautiful. No more to say. If I wasn't clumsy as I am, I would start doing this as well.

Inspiration: Monja Gentschow.

I recently fell in love with illustrations, and I especially like the work of >>Frau Grau<< and Monja Gentschow (see her website >>here<<).

I met Monja during delirial partying in my first years in Berlin and have followed her work improving and flourishing over the past years. She's a sweet person and an amazing artist doing very strange and lovely drawings, paintings and collages.

She's been publishing a personal scrap book diary on lead award-winning blog >>iGnant<< since about a year and I think the last three >>Monifakturen<< (#45, #46, #47) are ready to be shown at MoMa. I just ordered >>a deck of her cards<< and can't wait for it to arrive.

Inspiration: Yanidel.

When searching for things to see and photograph in Paris I stumbled upon >>this<< young photographer (Yanick Delafoge, who calls himself Yanidel) living and studying in Paris. He's one of the most talented contemporary street photographers I've seen and has a special eye for magic moments. Also, he seems to have a high produce, which I support with passion.

I spent hours looking for my favourite photos on his blog. I don't like the polished look in some of his photos, but others completely blow me away and leave me speechless. I hope we will all see more of him. And Yanick, if you ever want to get rid of your Leica M9, I would take it, maybe...

While posting his photos he makes up stories, and states in one post: "You see it, but you are not part of it." This could be my life doctrine. It think sticking to this sentence and only posting the pictures where this applies (I only posted the ones where it does) would give him an even more impressive and stronger profile, but I do adore these photos, truly. Congratulations, Yanidel. You're one of my biggest inspirations these days.

Inspiration: Frau Grau Δ.

I don't remember how I found >>Frau Grau<<, a young "illustratesse" who lives and works in Berlin (and currently is under maintenance).

I love her illustrations, her birds, her triangles, her photos (!) and I especially love her cat. Mrs. Grau, if I grow up one day and get rich, I will buy all of your artwork. I'm serious. And I will steal your cat.
