Paris in words: Day 1.

I just returned from Spain and am back at home.

Because during my trip I only occasionly went online, I decided to give a peek into what I've done with words, not only pictures. There might be doubles to previous posts, but I guess we can all live with that.

Descending over Île de France was the first highlight of my trip to Paris, though almost too cheezy to photograph. Godrays laid over the city, illuminating the skyline about to dip into shadows.

A lovely Parisienne sold me the right metro ticket in slow and easy French and I jumped on the train to Versailles. When changing trains I got lost for a second because I was so fascinated of the light disappearing over the land. So I missed my train and had to wait 60 minutes in a dark and shady trainstation with drunken teenagers all around me.

In Versailles I pulled my suitcase (almost as heavy as me) to the place du marché to pick up a big key chain for my host's apartment. While walking and pulling that damn suitcase, Versailles welcomed me with beautiful fireworks in the dead black sky. At Rue de l'Orangerie, right next to a beautiful lake facing le château, I found (after a while...) my beautiful old-fashioned own château for my first two days in Paris (merci beaucoup, Florian!). It was so cozy, it was hard to leave it in the morning after peeking and photographing pedestrians from my bedroom window in the rain (yes, right after I arrived, it started raining).

Paris: Numéro 4 (a).

It's my last full day in Paris, I moved from dignified Versailles to divisive Goutte D'Or and ran around the city all day long. I feel like this is my place, what ever I see, whereever I go, things work out and coincidence has been on my side for almost everything. I might just pack my stuff and move here, sit above Rue des Poissonniers, use all my senses and watch the city's flow pass by. I hate to go.

Paris: Numéro 3 (a).

Today I left Versailles after taking a stroll in the rain through massive amounts of tourists on sunday tours to the castle. I got a huge brooze from my way-to-heavy bag and am tired and happy.

Paris: Numéro 2 (a).

I had a wonderful day strolling through Paris, crisscrossing the arrondissements - while getting soaked multiple times. Now I'm freezing, drinking red wine and slowly falling into a very deep sleep. À bientôt.

Paris: Numéro 1.

I arrived in Paris and didn't make it to my couch (which, indeed, is a double bed) in Versailles until around midnight. Though I was welcomed with beautiful fireworks over le château and couldn't have had a better start in a warm and cozy château for myself.

Berlin - Paris - Vienna - Barcelona - Begur - Berlin.

Le monde et à nous!

I'm busy finish up jobs and polishing my French since tomorrow is the big day, I'm leaving for my summer-special Europe trip taking me all directions for almost two weeks.

I'll be in Paris photographing from friday until tuesday, jetting to Vienna afterwards for a short friend's break until friday at dusk, then heading to Barcelona to meet my sister, explore the city for two days, then take a bus up the coast to be offline for six days laying at the Spanish beach with my family.

Hoping to be hated by the whole world, I say "Auf Wiedersehen", "Au Revoir", "Baba" and "Adiós". I love my life.

(PS: If you don't hate me just yet, please give me suggestions for photography in Paris, Vienna and Barcelona. I'm not looking for the tourist crowd - though I know it's the wrong time of the year for that - I'd love to find some intimate spots, they don't need to be beautiful in the common sense. I love abondened places, I love old people telling long stories, I love weird things and I love bad weather.)

I'm almost there.

Last night I canceled all plans, because I realized I spend more than 100€ on having a domain and webserver for almost one and a half years, but am not using it. I realized I know html, and I know css, I know how to use ftp-servers, so why did I never make this happen?

I started building a real website, and now it's almost finished (after I didn't sleep until 9am in the morning). Just doing last adjustements...

Give me a day or two to rest, and this will really happen!

Inspiration: Frau Grau Δ.

I don't remember how I found >>Frau Grau<<, a young "illustratesse" who lives and works in Berlin (and currently is under maintenance).

I love her illustrations, her birds, her triangles, her photos (!) and I especially love her cat. Mrs. Grau, if I grow up one day and get rich, I will buy all of your artwork. I'm serious. And I will steal your cat.

Taxes.

The day before yesterday I picked up my mail from my old apartment and realized it's that time of the year again: I gotta do my damn taxes. To avoid angry emails from my clerk named M***** B**** like last year (and the year before... - thanks for baring with me, Mrs.!), I decided to get this over with quickly this time.

I'm doing a Nepali magazine layout job right now, that's why pictures are rather rare these days. Luckily I'm not missing out on good weather outside.

(I also want to send props to my friend Jo, who might have solved that like- and send-button problem I had. Thank you, Jo!)
