I'm still home and we're having high water by the rhine river. It looks so beautiful that we go on walks a lot, with levels rising and declining, forming new, beautiful landscapes every day.

My friends and I decided to stay home for New Year's, we're having a simple, delicious dinner with good wine and champagne, with a bit of private fireworks and not much more. What a beautiful end to a silent, slow, yet beautiful year with one big, unquestionable highlight: Anton.

To all of you, have a wonderful start into 2013 tonight and I promise to catch up on the blog in the beginning of the year.

We're home and it's lovely, having a whole bunch of (great) grandparents, aunts and uncles around. I don't have real internet here and I kind of enjoy it, so I'll post photos and stories later this week.

This morning, we all woke up into this magical light that only appears when it is SNOWING. Mini-me tends to sleep well all night, but when it get's bright in the morning, he starts to get wriggly. I got up with him and we stood by the window for a long time, me watching his amazed astonishement for all those white glimmering and shimmering snow flakes in the air. His eyes are so wide now, they are soaking up everything around him.

We were on the run all day, running errands in the snow, taking pictures like crazy, we went to visit N in his office, got a biometric picture taken and then finally got mini-me's first passport! Not long until our first flight going home for Christmas, and not even three months until INDIA. What a wonderful day.

A few days ago I got an email by my blog provider, stating we've cracked the 100.000 visitor barrier. I'm happy and proud my baby has made it this far and cheers to the next 100.000. So I miss the sun and the sea and the sand and the easy routine and especially the foreign. Editing and paperwork have become quite hard to get done, as my sciatic nerve is and has been tweeked by mini-me for some good six to eight weeks now. I'd love to hire an assistant to do all my desk work and just wander the city taking photos until early October. *Utopia.

I tried acupuncture today and am quite impressed with the instant results. Let's see if it helps on the long run. Happy tuesday. Life is good.

Last but not least I want to put a huge heart out here for my sister J. It's her 30th birthday and I wish I could be with her today - but, buhu, we've got to wait two more weeks until we see each other again. I love you!

It's been a while since my last post and I've received some concerned requests if I was alright. Just a quick answer: Yes, I am (besides that gigantonormous belly that appeared almost over-night, but I kind of like it...).

I've been working like a crazy person finishing up projects before I leave to Spain on tuesday to relax a bit with the family and possibly have my last tiny trip before >>this<< next big adventure. I had to realize I have to slow down now, and I will. I've also tried to get the best out of N's and my current long-distance situation, so I've used most of my free time for love and not much else.

I remember last year's excessive thunderstorms and nostalgically think back to hours of sitting on the windowsill, watching lightning strike Berlin's TV tower and trying to >>catch it on photo<<. Unfortunately having a huge balloon in front of me to carry around doesn't make it easier to bend over the parapet and shoot, and I decided the risk might be too high with mini-me jumping around in there.

This year's summer seems to be quite similar (and possibly even "worse" - you know I love it, so I can't complain!) in terms of rain and thunderstorms. Today, N. and I went to have french toast and coffee at Ankerklause and just left when heavy rainfall surprised us just outside. We were lucky to have an "almost dry" spot under an umbrella outside and very fortunate to stand away far enough when the sunblind crashed down under the weight of the water masses (ready to kill, actually...).

The rain didn't stop for approximately a little eternity, and - smitten - I shot everyone passing by until we finally ran to the U-Bahn.

I've always been a >>night owl<< and never really needed that much sleep, but the past weeks have been putting me to bed early (which means before 1am) and torturing me with early morning wake ups between 4 and 5am. Since the sun bathes my room every morning, once I'm awake, there's no way back.
