My little sister is most likely to be the cutest seven year old the world has ever seen. Sometimes a little iffy, but always quite charming. We shot this last weekend with my dad's never worn hat. I love.

The cold over the past months forced me photography-wise to mostly stick to whatever is there instead of taking pictures of people (frozen to icecubes), which I enjoy much more. However, sometimes taking pictures of whatever is there turns out to be great as well. I spent the weekend at home with the family and visited my mom at University Duisburg/Essen on monday. Besides watching her expertise on mini jobs and minimum wage at the conference she was attending, I had a nice view over the chimneys of the Ruhrpott from her office: This might be the beginning of a true romance with the city I was born in but have never seen since.

I slipped on ice and hardwood floor, hurt my hand, bun, head and stomach, almost got run over by tramways twice, got hit by chunks of melting snow falling from the roofs...

Last night I dreamed of laying by the lake side in the burning sun. Let's do it, soon - 'cause I'm just so sick of winter all together.

The cold outside is making me slow and sleepy. I just need a little temperature, really. I took these in december back at home when it was almost warm compared to now, but the colors match my mood today.

In january, the director of the Macedonia documentary movie and I took the train through snowy landscapes to lovely Leipzig and actually got there about two hours late. Arriving in an industrial brickstone area covered in icicles, we were picked up by Michael Triegel and kindly welcomed in his warm and cozy studio loft.

I'm usually not into paintings, neither the old master's way nor religious topics. But Michael Triegel's works are truly impressive and seem to glow from inside. He clearly is a master of his craft and all of his paintings appear to have somewhat of a very intelligent, sometimes ironic twist to them. Strolling around in his studio, I drank apple juice from a shot glass and took so many pictures that I just couldn't reduce the selection to less than this.

Now, guess if we got back on time... No. "Thank you for traveling with Deutsche Bahn."

Back in november, I spent a wonderful little wihile in Freiburg, living in a haunted house with a turret and being blown away by the hospitality and cheerfulness of my wonderful hosts. The black forest wasn't exactly top on the list for things to see or do last year, but it was actually freaking awesome. I am definitely coming back next summer for the German photo travels. Dear weather, how about a little fog next time? I wonder how beautiful these trees must look right now - dressed-up as ice-cubes.

A couple days ago I met actress Alice Dwyer to go on a photographic walk through Kreuzberg. Unfortunately, it was so f*§%/&)"ing cold, we couldn't really stay outside for more than an instant. Though meeting this impressive young lady is a pleasure always I hope we can do this again sometime. Bewitched by blue eyes, let's wait for the air to warm up a bit, just a little.

I am stuffed with work and the papers and emails and tasks are piling up so much that I don't know where to start or end or breathe (which is good because in the end this means I'll be able to pay for my rent...). So if you belong to the beloved people waiting for an email, for prints, for a CD of photos, a translation, a commitment or a call - please be patient with me as it's just so much to do and so little time. Thank you for baring with me. I will also be back posting tons of stuff very soon.

As a glimpse of things to come, please enjoy the lovely pictures I took in Zurich in the beginning of last month. This was actually five weeks ago, so thinking of it it's not hard to realize that there is at least ten more shooting sessions waiting to be published (or even looked at, really).

Also, my 2009 photo-text-diary post is updated daily and will be posted very soon, but I can't think of the past while the present is so stressful. Well, yes. Argh.
